Name Ten Favourite Famous Male Singers that most Women go crazy over.
79My Ten Favourite Male Singers
My ten favorite male singers have changed over the years but I have listed the current list below. The list has always included Elvis Presley and Neil Diamond.
I have been a music lover all of my life. I can go back to the days when I was a kid and we had a gramophone player. " His Masters Voice" I believe, with a little dog sitting there with it's ear cocked listening to music.
It was my job as the youngest boy to wind up the player with the handle on the side , no one else was allowed to touch the handle, not on my watch!
My next eldest brother had the most important job of changing the needle.
I always aspired to be the needle changer but alas, technology changed and we finished up buying one of those you beaut "record players" that played vinyl records. Wow!
I have decided to dedicate this Hub to my 10 favourite Male singers most admired by women
Picking out 10 male singers now that is a project, there are literally hundreds to choose from. Different genre, Pop, Classical, Country. Where do you start?
I'm not putting them in order of popularity because that does change depending on the mood and ambiance.
I hope you enjoy my selection and please feel free to share your own choices.

Frank Sinatra
Frank Sinatra I believe would be on most peoples favourite list and I have chosen one of his most famous songs "Strangers in the Night"
I love one of his last songs "My Way" but I think its been done to death. "My Way" was written by Paul Anka especially for Frank Sinatra, because he had told Paul he was retiring and was going to do one more album. Paul (who you may remember had that great hit "Diana" ) on hearing this sat down and in one sitting wrote "My Way". It's history now that Frank recorded the song and it was a smash hit. It gave Frank a fresh start to his career and did not retire.
Many other people have covered "My Way" but no one can do it like "Ole blue eyes"
Elvis singing Fever
Elvis Presley
Ok I must admit to liking Elvis as a Singer. (is that right dear did I say that in the correct tone of voice). No seriously I am a fan of Elvis. Especially as he got older I think his voice matured and he made better choices with the songs he sung.
Elvis Aaron Presley born on January 8, 1935 and died on August 16, 1977, was unless you have been living on another planet you would know he was an American singer, actor, and musician. He is cultural icon, and is commonly known simply as "Elvis", and is also sometimes referred to as "The King of Rock 'n' Roll" or "The King". He recorded songs like "Hound Dog" and "Jailhouse Rock", but his voice was so versatile that he could sing in just about any genre including gospel, blues, ballads and pop. Elvis has been inducted into at least four music halls of fame It was a tragedy when we lost him at age 42.
I really like this version of "Fever" it shows his versatility.
Michael Buble and Tony Bennet
Michael Buble
I was sitting there the other night flicking on the idiot box looking for something to see and I lucked on to Ovation channel . They were showing the "Making of Michael Buble's "Call Me Irresponsible" album released in 2007.
Do you think I might win some brownie points from Shirley Anderson with this selection!
Michael Bublé was born on the 9th of September in Canada and is known as a Big Band Singer. His performances have won a number of Grammy awards including "Best Male Pop Vocal Performance- Everything", as well as Multiple Juno Awards.
Michael has had some commercial success in America with his 2005 album "It's Time" and his newest album mentioned above "Call Me Irresponsible" reached number one on the Billboard 200.
Michael Buble has sold over 20 million albums world wide and his popularity is still growing.
In December 2008 Buble became part owner of the Vancouver Giants a junior ice hockey team.
Here Michael is singing with another of my favorites Tony Bennet.

Neil Diamond - Beautiful Noise
Neil Diamond
Neil Leslie Diamond was born January 24, 1941 and is an American singer-songwriter, and has become a legend in his own life time.
Neil Diamond is behind only Elton John and Barbra Streisand, on the list of the most successful adult contemporary artists in the history of the Billboard chart.
As of May 2005 Diamond had sold 160 million records worldwide, including 48 million records in the U.S.
Diamond was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1984.
With a string of hits including "'Cracklin' Rosie," "Sweet Caroline," "Holly Holy," and the country-and-western tinged "Song Sung Blue," which reached #1 on the Hot 100. "Sweet Caroline"
In 2007 Diamon admitted that he had written "Sweet Caroline" for Caroline Kennedy after seeing her on the cover of Life Magazine in an equestrian riding outfit. It took him just one hour, in a Memphis hotel, to write and compose it.
"Hot August Night" which was performed and recorded on Thursday August 24, was released as a double album, and showcases Neil's skills as a consumate performer and showman.
'Hot August Night' has become a classic and in Australia spent an amazing 29 weeks at number 1 on the charts.
I thought I would showcase one of his more happy songs. "Beautiful Noise"
Nat King Cole singing Stardust
Nat King Cole
Nathaniel Adams Coles or as he was know by his many fans Nat King Cole was born March 17 1919 and died February 15 1965 first became well known as a Jazz pianist, but he soon became famous for that soothing Baritone voice.
He was the first Afican-American to host a television variety show and has held his popularity over 40 past his death.
With a string of Hits such as "Mona Lisa", "Nature Boy", "Too Young" and his signature tune "Unforgettable"
I still think his version of "Stardust" is the best!
Nat King Cole is widely considered one of the most important musical personalities in United States history.
Bing Crosby Doin' the Bing
Bing Crosby
Now I know that some of you may well say "Bing who", but this guy was big when I was growing up, he really carried some weight!
"Bing" Crosby whose real name was Harry Lillis Crosby was born on May 3 1903 and died on October 14 1977.
Bing had an enviable reputation. Between 1934 and 1954 he was virtually unrivaled in the business of selling records. One of the first multimedia stars, from 1934 to 1954.
Bing Crosby held a nearly unrivaled command of record sales, radio ratings and motion picture takings.
Bing Crosby was widely recognized as one of the most popular musical acts in history, he is also credited as being the major inspiration for most of the male singers of the era that followed him, including Frank Sinatra, Perry Como, and Dean Martin.
Crosby also contributed greatly ot keeping the morale of American G.I. high during World War II.
During his peak years, around 1948, polls declared him the "most admired man alive," ahead of even Pope Pius XII. Also during 1948, it was estimated by some authorities that Crosby recordings filled more than half of the 80,000 weekly hours allocated to recorded radio music.
I am presenting you with a song to demonstrate his singing voice from his TV show.
Its called "Doin' the Bing" and as he says 'Don't shout' ... 'Your doin' it best if your falling asleep' My kinda guy lol
Roy Orbison - Oh, Pretty Woman - with some help!
Roy Orbison
The Big O.
If you were to say that to anyone my guess is they would know who you were talking about. Roy Kelton Orbison born 23 April, 1936 and dying on the 6 December, 1988 was an influential Grammy Award-winning American singer-songwriter, guitarist and a pioneer of rock and roll. Roy Orbisons' career spanned more than four decades. Orbison is best known for the songs, "Ooby Dooby," "Only the Lonely," "In Dreams," "Oh, Pretty Woman," "Crying," "Running Scared," "You Got It". Roy was known for his smooth high baritone voice, with a range of at least two and a half octaves.
I hope you enjoy Roy Orbison's rendition of his old favorite 'Oh, Pretty Woman'. This video is from the 'Black and White Night' Concert recorded on September 30 1987.
Helping Roy out were some lesser lights lol Try thinking Bruce Springsteen, Elvis Costello et al !
He was rarely seen on stage without his trademark black sunglasses. In 1987, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and in 1989, he was posthumously inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.
John Denver - Annie's Song
John Denver
If I said to you "What do you think of Henry Deutschendorf Junior?" , if you are like me you would more than likely say "What is he, a footballer or something?" But if I said to you "how good was John Denver?" Then what would be your answer?
So what's in a name?
John Denver was born on December 31, 1943 and died in an accident on October 12, 1997.
John was piloting a Long-EZ aircraft which crashed off the coast of California shortly after taking of from the airport.
John Denver was born Henry John Deutschendorf, Jr..
John was an American Country Music/folk singer-songwriter and folk rock musician.
He was one of the most popular acoustic artists of the 1970s in terms of record sales, recording and releasing around 300 songs, about half composed by himself.
Colorado appointed him their "Poet Laureate of Colorado" in 1977.
Songs such as "Leaving on a Jet Plane" (1967), "Take Me Home, Country Roads" (1971), "Rocky Mountain High" (1972), "Sunshine on My Shoulders" (1973), "Thank God I'm a Country Boy" (1974), "Annie's Song" (1974), and "Calypso" (1975) are popular worldwide. Denver has been referred to as "The Poet for the Planet", and I could not agree more.
I literally had to flip a coin to pick a song because I love them all. It was between "Annies Song" and "Sunshine on My Shoulder" and "Annie's Song" won the toss.
Tom Jones and Engelbert Humperdinck
Engelbert Humperdinck and Tom Jones
Engelbert Humperdinck is another singer who did not use his real name he was born "Arnold George Dorsey", on May 2, 1936, in Madras, India.
Engelbert is a well-known British-American pop singer who rose to international fame during the 1960s and 1970s, after adopting the name of the famous German opera composer Engelbert Humperdinck as his own stage name.
Engelbert was having very little success using his real name. Go figure!, He earned his early stage name Gerry from his impersonations of Jerry Lewis. Engelbert had many great hits such as "Release Me", There Goes My Everything", "The Last Walz" and "Am I That Easy To Forget".
Well OK I'm cheating a little bit here, but I reckon you won't mind all that much.
Two for the price of one so to speak. And this is a rare bit of footage going right back to 1970. What do you think girls, bring back some memories. Where are those panties when you need 'em?
Can anyone identify the keyboard player?
This Is My Song
Harry Secombe
Sir Harry Donald Secombe CBE to give him his full title was born in Wales on the 8th of September 1921 and died on the 11th April 2001.
As well as having a beautiful tenor singing voice (as apparently all Welshmen do) he was a gifted comedian and a fine actor. He is best known for playing Neddie Seagoon in the Goon Show which ran for many years on the BBC radio. I can remember vividly when I was young boy, gathering around the radio wlth my family and listening to the Goons. We would then all carry on like pork chops imitating the way the Goons spoke.

The late great Buddy Holly was also an amazing male singer and a very sad loss along with The Big Bopper and Ritchie Valens. Peggy Sue comes to mind.
Noble Fox, what good taste you have! :)
Nice choices, nic to see Michael Buble on the list. If you are into rock n roll, check out the hub I created about the top ten front-men of all time.
Awesome list. I'm a singer myself and I need to listen to more of these guys in order to perfect my voice at open mics. I run http://jerseymic.com, a free resource for open mics in NJ.
I really enjoyed this hub, agvulpes. I recently did a hub on my favorite vocalists, but most of mine were from the 1930's and 1940's -- with Bing Crosby and my cousin, Michael Torpey (who sings "My Way" in the role of Frank Sinatra) at the top of the list. But I like all of your selections, especially Nat King Cole.
i would pick michael buble for classic music, but then who could ever beat Michael Jackson when it comes to RnB, Soul, Disco, and all those crazy stuff?? but then, if it's Classic, for me it's Michael Buble, and for rock and roll, gotta be Elvis...
your stupid for not having the king on here. ass
Again a great list. I'm not a huge fan of Roy Orbison but I don't deny his talent. I know it is fashionable to dislike this guy, but I would also include Elton John--at least before the mid-1980s when he lost a lot of his voice. When he was young, he could really sing and his sound was completely, totally unique.
Tom Jones has a gorgeous voice, also--very powerful.
Thanks for posting, this was a fun read.
I wonder how many people would have to provide this list before two would have the same top ten? I like your list and to me, Elvis is the one that can never be argued. Now, if you asked my wife she would say Bee Gees and if you told her it was a list for one singer, she would say ok, any one of them. lol
some great singers there enjoyed your hub thanks
After reading your list and I have to agree with most of those singers on the list. There is only one King of Rock and Roll and it will always be Elvis, how about the likes of the Bee Gees, Conway Twitty, Gene Pitney, Ricky Nelson and Louie Armstrong, I grew up listening to the music of these people and many more different artists but your list is a good one, well done.
My favorite male singer was on your list. In fact, I think he died in Australia but Im not sure. It was Roy Orbison. As far as my all time favorite song in the rock n roll catagory, that would be Sweet Little Sixteen, by Chuck Berry
Tony Bennet and Michael Buble does it get any better! Well maybe if Frank was with them :))) Another excellent Hub. . I do believe you have made a fan outta me!!!
ag - what a great group! I loved your favorite women singers hub so knew I'd see some of my own favorites here. Sinatra and Roy Orbison are superb and we listen to both of them often.
Sinatra and Elvis were mine too. I have many of their recordings
Some great classics here agvulpes, I voted for Micheal Buble but he sings all the classics anyway. I guess that means I like, The King, Sinatra and Tom Jones as well.
This poser is too difficult to contemplate but a great idea,
I like some of your choices but I've never been any good at making lists of favorite singers or bands, just way too many. FYI here in the states when you mention Big O we know it's former basketball great Oscar Robertson. I do love Roy though. Nice hub, Peace!!
Is AFL like what we call Rugby? I'm not sure if I've seen it. I'm pretty much a sports fan, I like a bit of a lot of them.
nice choice. hope you love iyaz too. and please add charice. she's a friend of mine.
Oh I just love this hub! First of all....Sinatra is my favorite...my cat is even named Sinatra. Second...love Neil Diamond and third....John Denver is a forever favorite. I played Annie's Song on the piano at my grandma's funeral...she loved that song. They seriously do not make music like this anymore!
Um, too hard, thinking Diamond, no, Buble I think, wanted to go home LOL no, love this hub as I eat and breath music, and lyrics, duh? So I',m going to give you 2 from may, understanding I love gangster rap, yes at 43, however these are beautiful and includes Tupac, may be rest in peace, ghetto gospel
and then, you will love, should be up there! geez, Johnny Cash, last video before he died and collaboration of such talented artist performing a video his voice, after his death
fun hub, made my day. One of us really must do a gangster rap hub, or I could do that, and you could do a second hub of white artist, black and white reverse orders accordingly, OK the last part I was completely kidding
Yes, I am aware I make no sense, hope your down with that! lol
please try to watch: There's a quiz comment to follow up.

OK, Im going with Diamond, for 500, he is just too amazing!
Cheers
did I just hear a shutter go Off? Not cool. I have to sign many things, as does my agent, please drop off film at my profile, and we shall forget this ever happend.
:)
I adore all your Top 10 except for Michael Buble, he couldn't fit into Frank Sinatra's shoes, although he's trying hard. My favorite all time ICON/LEGEND is the no other than the KING of rock n roll himself. Elvis the Pelvis.
I had the opportunity when I visited London England way back in 1968 to attend a comedy play with Harry Secombe playing one of the 3 Musketeers. He was hilarious although he mimed his part. They announced that he could not sing that night due to having a bout of laringhitis.
You would never know he mimed his part perfectly. Two great Welsh singers for sure him and Tom Jones.
Enjoyable hub, thanks for the memories..
My younger sister and I really loved John Denver's songs. She died last year from ALS. Denver's music reminds me of her beautiful personality. I saw John Denver at the NASA-Johnson Space Center in 1988 when he was trying to arrange for a paid flight on the space shuttle. I had planned to go to the space station mock-up to take pictures. I didn't know he'd be there so I was pleasantly surprised to come across him and a couple of astronauts giving him a tour. Denver was a space activist. Anyway, I took a few photos of him, which will be in a future hub.
Hey Where is Michael Jackson????.......this list is incorrect until it has Michael Jackson on the top of it........he was an angel..........R.I.P Michael Jackson......he's still alive in our hearts...
U can tell this list is for older persons. MJ is the true king. Please check how many albums he sells in 40years if your alive. He's bringing in an average of 250,000,000 annually after death. Sorry 4 the not so nice comment. Thanks 4 the chance to give my personal opinion. Michael Jackson 4 life!
Bing Crosby and Elvis are on my list but would have to add a few Bob Seger, Bruce Springsteen, Harry Belafonte and Van Morrison. Good Hub!
Elvis forever, had a great voice , great looking and could sing a large selction of songs, and he was a movie star, and a great enterainer, and served in the armed forces. A Great America...
It would have to be Elvis the Pelvis wouldn't it :)
I agree agvulpes, it's got to be Elvis. Voted up and beautiful...
loved your response to To, lol.
Your picks are great, Elvis is King!
From your list I would go gor Elvis, and I would add Barry White... He's got such a manly voice uhhhh!!!!! "You Are The First, My Last, My Everything" just love it!
These are horrible top singers I dont listen to them to me they are horrible i want ppl like pitbull not old timers music
Great hub! My vote went to Elvis Presley! Always The King! Voted UP!
Barry White, Alan Jackson, Rick Springfield, Les McKeown, Lil' Wayne, Usher, Tyrese all seem to have this affect on women.
I can not vote on this because I like many of the singers on the list. I also like a couple of the names I mentioned here.
You;ve got to check out two not so famous singers, but amazing: Philip Quast and Rhyddian.
I think you made a good choice with John Denver he had a great vioce and was recently put in to the catagory of top 5 preforming artists of all time. R.I.P. John Denver
The best singer ever was the BIG ''O'',IF HE COVERED A SONG HE DID IT BETTER THAN THE ORIGIONAL ARTIST,ELVIS WOULD NOT DARE GET ON THE SAME STAGE AS HIM.HE SAID HE WAS THE GREATEST SINGER IN THE WORLD & SO HE WAS.
I'm a big Michael Buble fan. I just wrote this HUB on him today. http://ronalina.hubpages.com/hub/Michael-Buble-Bri
there is only one singer in the last 50 years that had a true lilting natural voice..Englebert!
Very difficult to pick one of the "best" singers of all time.
We have been fortunate to have so many. How far back can you go? Nat King Cole had his own style and so did Sinatra, Don Cornell,Mario Lanza, and each one great in his own style. Beautiful music to be enjoyed forever!
I'm surprised no one has brought up Aaron Neville.
"My Way" was not actually written by Anka, as he took a French song called "Comme d'Habitude" ("As Usual") and basically gave it completely new words.
Cool hub. :)
Without mentioning those who have already been listed in the article and comments some singers I really like are Sam Cooke, Brook Benton, Marvin Gaye, Otis Redding, Smmokey Robinson (who sounds great at 71), Stevie Wonder, Johnny Mathis, and Jackie Wilson. My favorite on the list is Nat King Cole. And on kind of a related note, I thought of another one who co-wrote Cole's the Christmas Song ("Chessnuts roasting on an open fire"): Mel Torme.
Ok. I'll stop listing singers and let others have a chance. Lol.
And in my haste to list all the singers above I forgot to mention Ray Charles. Oops. Lol.
I don't know if I'd necessarily say I'm showing my age, unless one counts the fact that I'm in my 20's and I know all these singers; that's definitely not something people would expect from those my age, but I've always liked music though and that's how I know these people. Lol.
Glad to take you down memory lane. And you're right about Torme being more than a singer; it seems like his other contributions are overlooked. On the other hand, people talk about what a great songwriter Stevie Wonder is, and overlook his singing, or so it seems.
Glad to see your comment. :)
Stef
I love popular music, particularly from the 1930's and 1940's and maybe into the 1950's. That period offered some of the greatest songs of all time, written by very artistic and creative songwriters with great musical backgrounds. I can only judge by my ears but most songs after the mid-1950's do not have the depth of these earlier tin-pan-alley tunes so it is hard for me to evaluate newer vocalists from that time.
I like singers with smooth voices like Sinatra of the 1940's and Crosby of the 1930's. I like Dean Martin, and how could we overlook Al Bowlly? And no one is smoother than Nat King Cole. Michael Buble shows great talent in that area. I think Burton Cummings would have been a great crooner if he'd come along earlier. Vic Damone has one of the great voices I've ever heard. I like Roy Orbison's range and imagination. Another overlooked pair of singers, both with the same style, are Slim Whitman and Frank Ifield.
Tony Martin and Perry Como fit the same smooth mold.
Thanks for listening.
- Norm.
PRINCE! He rocks the sexiness chart(:
I don't know what your problem is with Michael Jackson. I mean if people call him the King of Pop,then there's nothing wrong with that because that's his title and he damn sure earned it.But I think he should be on your list because not only was he a great entertainer and great dancer, but he was a great singer too.I mean his voice melted plenty of womens hearts and he made women and men faint just by the sound of his voice.
Most listed are not current. I loved Neil Diamond and Roy Orbison. Another voice I liked but not from the list was Gary Puckett. At present, I love the voice of David Cook. He has this distinctive, dark, strong, masculine and versatile voice that I don't get tired of listening. It could be soft, gentle and velvety for ballads and gritty, raspy, strong and could belt out when singing rock. I've learned to love rock music through listening to his rock songs. I have been listening to his collections of over 100 songs of old and new originals and covers almost every day since 2008 and for me that's something unusual and a first for me. It's sad that today's airwaves besides rap or hip hop are playing mostly ones with female voices and the more feminine like male voices.
Well I'm a woman and I certainly have Philip Quast on my favorite male singers I go ga-ga about list. He is wonderful. His 'Stars' is sublime.

Great choices again agvulpes. I could listen to Nat King Cole for ever.
